If you didn't catch it, there was a really interesting article in this Sunday's New York Times by Sharon Waxman (author of "Rebels on the Backlot") about the new comedy clique in Hollywood that includes Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn and others. I had always thought of it as a good thing as, up to this point, they were all making predominately funny movies together. But her article brings up a new angle I hadn't thought of, that it's monopolizing comedy in Hollywood and that it's harder to get a comedy script off the ground if it doesn't include someone from this group. That said the "Rebels" book had its share of inaccuracies so how much of what is in the article is valid remains to be seen (after all HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE was a critical and commercial success and it featured none of the above actors). All this to say that we've scored a first look at the posters for this summer's comedy from some of the members of said comedy clique, WEDDING CRASHERS. The film stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as guys who make a habit of crashing weddings and making off (and out) with the bridesmaids. But one of them falls for the daughter (Rachel McAdams) of an eccentric politician (Christopher Walken) they find themselves in over their head. The film hits theaters on July 15th. There are two posters below, the only difference being the tagline.
