Confirming the rumors that have been floating around the web for some time, Lindsay Lohan has officially signed on to star in Robert Altman's next film A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION. Lohan will co-star with, as is par for the course in an Altman film, a sprawling cast that features Meryl Streep, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolph, Lily Tomlin and Kevin Kline. While the film itself is a departure for Lohan and her Disney-centric films to date, the role necessarily isn't - she'll star as a "sexy ingenue." The film is based on Garrison Keillor's legendary U.S. radio variety show with a Keillor-written script (he'll also appear in the film as himself). Altman's movie is based on the fictional premise that Keillor's show has been shut down and the events among the various musicians, performers and crew members employed by the show that lead up to the final broadcast. Filming will take place this summer in Minneapolis right around the same time Lohan's next film, HERBIE: FULLY LOADED, hits theaters. From a talking Nascar Beetle to Altman... quite a segue.
