Jolie in Beowulf

Angelina Jolie has joined the cast of the upcoming Robert Zemeckis adaptation of BEOWULF. Jolie will star as the Queen of Darkness, a temptress who looks to distract Beowulf as he continues on his quest to become king. Jolie joins Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, Ray Winstone and Brendan Gleeson in the film. Crispin Glover is also attached to play the monsterous Grendel. In case you've been living under a rock, BEOWULF will be filmed using the motion capture (mo-cap) technology used by Zemeckis in THE POLAR EXPRESS. As the news comes that Jolie joins the cast, also comes word that Paramount and Warner Bros. have teamed up to distribute the film. Warner Bros., who set up POLAR EXPRESS, and Columbia, who are distributing another Zemeckis-produced mo-cap film MONSTER HOUSE, were considered frontrunners but instead Paramount came aboard to take domestic distribution. Jolie is currently filming THE GOOD SHEPHERD with Matt Damon for director Robert De Niro.
