Strike Back below!

UPDATE - Variety elaborates today on the ROCKY 6 news. It turns out MGM will co-finance the film after-all with Sony and Revolution kicking in some funds. Columbia will distribute in the States. The villian will be a character quite cheesily named Mason Dixon, whose nickname is "The Line." If my eyes rolled any further, they'd be all the way in the back of my head... The original report from Oct. 12, is below.

We've heard all the talk and rumors about a ROCKY 6 (primarily because Sly Stallone doesn't have much else to talk about) but up until this point, I really didn't think it was going to happen. It looks like I'm wrong. Production Weekly is reporting that filming on ROCKY 6 is scheduled to begin filming in December with Sly again starring and this time directing. The trade describes the plot as being about a "lonely and at loose ends" Rocky who "comes out of retirement." Sound familiar? Know anybody who fits that bill? In the film Rock will take on a few local matches just to help pay the bills but eventually is offered a title fight and becomes the focus of a media blitz. If you want to find out more about ROCKY 6, we posted a few pages from the script a while back when Sly published them in his now-defunct magazine. It's unclear yet who's backing the film financially but MGM, now owned by Sony, passed on the rights to making the film. Stallone's last attempt at fame, the NBC TV series "The Contender," was cancelled after one season. But he can whip up a mean pudding!

Poor Sly
It seems his success has finally got the best of him...
He can't even get his movies onto the Big Screen anymore....
Let's get Rocky 6 going, maybe people will watch it out of sympathy, or maybe it will go straight to video....
regardless...I'm there for you Sly...I really am!!!!!!!!

Great!
Maybe I'm the only person that will see this, but I really want another Rocky film. As bad as part 5 was, there has to be another one so the series can end on a good note. Could you imagine if Star Wars would have ended on Ep 2 instead of 3? Same deal.

Awesome
Personally I think its about time for another Stallone flick to make it to the big screen. It just seems like all the iconic actors have faded away in the last 10 years or so. So this makes me a happy man. And at the very least it will be better than most of the garbage that passes as a film nowadays.

F*CK YEAH!
I guess RAMBO 4 (which was gonna happen in January 2006) is on hold and ROCKY 6 is the one that got greenlit. I'M HIP! I read some of the script in the SLY mag and it was classic ROCKY. I for one am looking forward to seeing another underdog beats the odds tale with my hero Sly Stallone in the pilot's seat. BRING IT SLY! I'll be first in line! "Gonna Fly Now" baby!

I've Said it before...
Stallone is such a whore! Its not like he needs the money. This is just about him trying to stack some more on to his (hundreds) of millions. Stallone sucks now...BTW I loved the orginal Rocky movies as much as anyone else.

Dont hit me for that, but I love the Rocky Series, all 5 together, and only together, make a great history of the Boxer, with a Great ending (not that Rocky 5 was very good, but it did give it a really cool ending) ... so for me, the Story is Finish!! FINISH!! Why in the hell destroy that? Money Probably, whatever.. that is for me so bad as the Idea of making Bues Brothers 2 was, wich I continu...
