Deadpool breaks wall Jul. 6, 2009

Deadpool Ryan Reynolds has been talking up the upcoming comic adapted DEADPOOL spin-off ever since the release of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, where he played the infamous Merc with a Mouth for a whole of two scenes. He's mostly been making reassuring statements saying that the filmmakers intend to do the character justice by making him the darkly comedic assassin we know and love from the comics. Which is, of course, typical movie star bullshit who intends to sell a movie in the future. His most recent reassurance came when asked about Deadpool's trademark "breaking the fourth wall" where he stops in the middle of his adventure to talk to us, the audience. He had this to say: "Break the Fourth Wall? Oh yeah, he’s got to. I want to see him break the Great Wall.” Breaking the fourth wall is a common enough trope in movies so they'd be silly not to include it. Read the rest of what Reynolds had to say over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: Deadpool first appeared in "The New Mutants #98" in February 1991.

When a movie has a narrator does it also break the 4th wall?
'Cause the narrator is addressing us.

Ever since Ryan Reynolds played that vulgar mouthed in-the-closet homosexual in Blade Trinity, I just can't watch him in anything. He was so irritating in that movie, I don't think I could ever give him another chance.

Just hope they get a good director, otherwise should be brilliant even if it is PG-13

Marvel so far has only made "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk" so far. They don't own the X-Men franchise so aren't directly responsible for how the studios treat the comics they don't have film right to.

I'm not a comic book geek, but I like Ryan Reynolds, and everything I've heard about Deadpool makes him sound like a nice guy to have a beer with...and then pack my shit up and leave town as fast as possible. But I also am a big fan of anti-heroes breaking the fourth wall (Richard III, baby!).

I would very much like to see a Deadpool movie, but I am not pleased with most of what Marvel has done in their movies minus Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk from last year, but hopes are dim but still there as I like...

I've never really been too much of a fan of Deadpool. So I can't say I am very excited for this.
