July 4th weekend in The United States is a time for block parties, fireworks and organic cider-infused pulled pork sandwiches. It's also time for Hollywood's kings and queens to hit Malibu, Santa Barbara and Hoboken for a quick weekend getaway, thus putting a temporary moratorium on all things movie-related. So it looks like I'm forced to let you all know that Neil Patrick Harris, he of "sudden career renaissance" fame is set to host this year's Emmy awards after recently earning rave reviews as host of the Tony Awards. The "How I Met Your Mother Star" used to be something of a punchline back in the day, due in part to his role in "Doogie Howser M.D." But thanks to a couple of dudes named Harold and Kumar and a few other smart career moves, I think it's safe to say that Neil patrick Harris is the new Will Smith.
