Eckhart is Dent? Feb. 2, 2007

Source: Latino Review

Aaron Eckhart Those horny bastards over at "Latino Review" have got their fingers on the pulse of superhero flick casting news so when they throw out a name for a role in a major comic book film franchise, we pay attention. In this case, they're saying that THANK YOU FOR SMOKING man-candy Aaron Eckhart is the leading contender for the role of Harvey Dent aka Two-Face in the upcoming THE DARK KNIGHT. They're also corroborating the rumors that Rachel McAdams and Emily Blunt are candidates for the role of Batman love muffin Rachel Dawes and they've added their own uncovered name to the mix - Maggie Gyllenhaal. What do you guys think about it? Is Eckhart Dent? Is Gyllenhaal Dawes? Strike a little something back. Read "Latino Review's" report over HERE. THE DARK KNIGHT opens July 18th, 2008.

Extra Tidbit: Interestingly enough, Eckhart was Darren Aronofsky's choice for James Gordon for his BATMAN: YEAR ONE project.

Not maggie gyllenhaal, would batman really date a frumpy sagging girl who appears to be 40 but in real life is only 20 something, she is a good actor but would not fit that part, she has to be attractive and be a average actor (katie holmes was perfect, never thought i would say that)!

Eckhart would rock that role. Maggie would not. But I could watch Rachel McAdams aaaaaaaaall day long.

I dig Eckhart. I think Dawes is a toss up between Gyllenhall or Blunt, they should leave Rachel McAdams out of the equation.

Eckhart could do a decent dent, and Maggie should just stay away from these flicks -- that's all I have to say.

I'm down with Aaron Eckhart as Dent. I think that's a solid bit of casting. Better than the Ledger casting in my opinion. As for who takes over the role of Rachel Dawes - I for one still hope they don't keep the character at all. But if they insist upon it, I'm not really liking any of the aforementioned choices. While Gyllenhaal is a good actress, I just don't see her in that role, plus she looks NOTHING like Katie Holmes, unlike what some previous post said. McAdams is solid, but I think she's become a big enough actress that she really wouldn't want to take over the role that a lesser actress once held. Just my opinion. As for Blunt, I'm not really all that impressed with her. She just seems like the hip actress du jour.

Eckhart would be great! I love Maggie but she seems wrong for the love interest - I really hope it's Rachel or Emily instead.

I don't really care who they cast for the roll of Dawes, as long as they go with a woman, and not a girl. I think that was part of the miscasting of Holmes in the first place. Bruce Wayne might have some young airheaded ditz on his arm at a party, but Batman would want the closest thing to his intellectual equal that he could find. How awsome would it be to see Monica Bellucci, or someone of her stature, as a love intrest? Totally! Awesome!

Eckhart Yes! Gyllenhaal NO! She is about as attractive as my OWN sister. Surely the point of love interests is that the audience can get behind the leading mans woody for her in the first place? Make mine Blunt.

Eckhart will make a perfect addition to the ever growing cast. The first film had alot of powerhouse actors in it and he will fit in just fine. I think Rachel Mcadams will do a much finer job than Holmes did in the first one, to be honest, Holmes was the only downfall of the first film. It's the whole scientology thing, I just can't watch any of them in a serious role anymore.

I believe Gylenhaal is the perfect choice only for her similarity to Katie Holmes (looks, perky behaviour). Other than that I see no other reason.

I say change the character of Dawes...but if they have to replace...absolutely have to...then they could do worse than Gyllenhaal. I like her.

let me just say this as a reader of the batman comics since childhood, Eckhardt will make the absoloute perfect Dent, and when the time calls for it 'two-face'. He will add a sense of credibility and subtlty that someone like Jamie Foxx couldn't do, as the temptation to overact and make the role cartoony is too strong (see tommy lee jones). My only slight issue would be that seeing as this is the origins of batman/dent, Harvey was a young freshfaced DA in his 20s, famed for his charm and goodlooks, thus adopting the name apollo. Eckhardt may be slightly to old for this title, unless they change the character slightly. If they were to go for the similar comic origins, I would be happy also with the older choice of Ryan Phillipe, who like Ledger would suprise audiences with a credible performance that would shed any remaining teen throb image. That said, Eckhardt at this moment is the best actor for the role, his performance in thank you for smoking alone portrayed his abilities to play the arrogant, good looking, yet charming spokesperson, all qualities required for Harvey Dent.

As a dawes replacement, I can very much see gyllenhall taking over, she's got far stronger chops than holmes could ever ask for (and she can speak from the centre of her mouth), but if they intend to replace the actress for the role of dawes I could think of better actresses to make that seamless intergration.
