Or at least that's what Sean Astin seems to think. "The writing’s on the wall when they’re releasing the [”Goonies”] DVD in such numbers", he told MTV, which seems fairly flimsy to me, but I guess he would know a lot more than I do. More than that though, Astin talked a little about which direction the sequel would go in a bid to recapture some of the magic that the original had in spades. "Steven [Spielberg] and Dick [Donner] and all the powers that be … they really feel like the thing that made the movie strong was that it was about kids, so they really want to make the next movie about kids…the next generation of Goonies. And they’ve had a hard time tackling that.”

I actually really like sequels (I was even on board for Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker doing the exact same shit for a third time), but I don't like this idea of the children of the original Goonies running the show, not unless Mikey, Mouth, Chunk and the rest of the dudes somehow get dragged into the whole adventure. I don't know, I'm interested to see how this goes, but I really can't see a sequel ever doing justice to the original. There was just something so magical about the whole thing.

Extra Tidbit: In order to force himself to cry, Chunk (Jeff Cohen) thought about his mother dying, sad face emoticon.

HoyleHaw: "Howard the Duck"

KingGeorge: "Short Circuit 2" (1988) [link]

And please god, make this story go away! Goonies was great. Won't someone please make a great movie for THIS generation, without leaning on the LAST generation for ideas?

Old News
Yes, it sounds like a horrible idea, but Sean Astin has been banging the drum for a Goonies sequel for literally years now, so I'm not putting any stock in it.

F***ING HOLLYWOOD
Art Of War 2, Goonies 2, Ace Ventura 3 ... I like sequels too, but only if they are very good or great. But these movies won't be.

Why change the cast?
If only because they've come so far, I would've been in favor of one involving the all-grown-up Goonies. I still can't believe the same Josh Brolin who played the hair-trigger doctor in "Planet Terror" was Brand. Most of these guys still have careers (even if Martha Plimpton's last notable role was in 200 Cigarettes), so they could probably manage a sequel, which would probably be better news f...

Most of these guys still have careers (even if Martha Plimpton's last notable role was in 200 Cigarettes), so they could probably manage a sequel, which would probably be better news for Corey Feldman than anyone. But if they stick a bunch of kids who maybe have one credit to their name in a movie and expect it to be okay, I mean, unless they're all the offspring of original Goonies, then it'd almost certainly flop. Then again, I can't recall when it was (I know it happened sometime) that something Spielberg stuck his name on (and not just his studio) was total crap.

STUPID!!!!!
This idea is Gay-Retarded! Maybe Ceddric the "Entertainer" can be in it. He's in every other 80's remake!

ho come on !
let the 80's stay in the 80's guys ! Why not doing an ORIGINAL adventure movie ... Goonies are great but..that's it..one goonies movie end of the story !
Do you think they'll come out with a Johnny Five sequel too ? (don't tell me it's already made lol !)
