Imbruglia and Wolvey? Dec. 28, 2007

Yes, this is unsubstantiated rumor, and yes it is pretty out there, but this is being reported for two reasons: first, because I want people to be constantly talking about the WOLVERINE movie, since I think it will be great. And second, because for a couple of months when I was a kid, I was absolutely obsessed with Natalie Imbruglia. This was around the time that 'Torn' was playing every other minute on every single radio station, every day of the week. The word is that Ms. Imbruglia has auditioned and subsequently won a role in the upcoming WOLVERINE origin film. And that's about it. As we know, Hugh Jackman (who is reportedly bulking up like crazy, and too right) will be reprising his role from the X-MEN films that were great before Brett Ratner took the franchise and f*cked up like Seven-Up, and Maggie Q reported to be playing his girl Silver Fox. It still remains to be seen who will end up playing Sabretooth, with Gerard Butler and Robert Knepper both having their names bandied around. Gavin Hood (TSOTSI) helms. And this is good, good news.

Extra Tidbit: 'Tsotsi' is South African slang for 'thug'.

Yeah, I agree, usually it's a BAD idea (although, like remakes, it's not exactly a recent trend).

But this isn't exactly Hamlet we're talking about here and, sometimes, you just need the biggest dude you can find (like with The Princess Bride's Fezzik, or the X-Men's Sabretooth)...especially since Jackman's so damn tall.

Of course, there's always Michael Clarke Duncan...but he'd probably look mightily weird in a blonde wig.

This movie definately has potential to be awesome, Hood's Tsotsi was awesome, Jackman's Wolvie has always been spot on, Imbruglia is hot... it's a winning formula. But c'mon people... Tyler Mane doesn't have to come back. If anything we should really be discouraging the trend of Wrestlers as Actors that emerged a few years back...it was getting bad there for a while (I'll leave the Rock out, cause he's trying and has almost succeeded a few times)

as for miss imbruglia, she did a fine job in johnny english. and it's ok to put a singer in a movie if they're good at it. to put them in just for the sake of the them being famous.. well that's lame. madonna was great in evita, but justin timberlake deserves to be punished for all he's done so far in movies!

I'm keen as a mother f*cking wolf to see this flick. I'm also going to jump on the Tyler Mane as Sabretooth bandwagon. He was great as the character and would be radical if he returned.

Hmm, I thought Tyler Mane would be returning for Sabertooth. I for one would love to see him again. Perhaps he will be given more to do.

As for Tyler Mane, f**k that deaf mute steroid freak. He couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag if he was immortal and had 1000 years of acting lessons. It's time to let an actual ACTOR play Sabretooth, and play him right for a change.

Just bring Mane back for Sabretooth, he did a fine job in X1.

And I still don't get this fanboy obsession with Gerard Butler. I mean, sure, 300 was entertaining...but he was TERRIBLE as both Dracula and the Phantom; and his latest film, P.S. I Love You, is getting lacerating reviews.

As for Wolverine? I hope they're staying with the comics' origin, and have abandoned that nonsense about young Wolvie fighting, erm, high school jocks...which doesn't sound like it's set in 1800's Canada.

I too was obsessed with Natalie Imbruglia for awhile when I was a kid. I had forgotten all about her until I saw this article. I feel ashamed. :(

There should be some sort of worldwide law that forces Natalie Imbruglia to walk around completely naked 24/7.
