This stuff was in the movie...
I'm confused...damn near all of this was in the movie. The ants look a little different and i don't remember the triangle alien lights - that's it.

Actually, with the exception of the shape of the skull, a lot of that made it in the film.

I agree
Although for the most part I enjoyed Indy4, one of my biggest complaints was that the ending to similar to the ending of Raiders and last crusade.
Indy leads bad guys to historic replica, bad guys get killed by replica, Indy and friends all escape. Way too predictable.

Ironically, the fridge-nuking scene was my favorite part of that movie! And call me crazy, but I always thought the ending was too much like "Raiders of the Lost Ark." In fact, the fourth installation, while not nearly as bad for me as for some, was riddled with scenes that felt recycled from the other three.

Huh...
That scene could've been pretty cool (Cate Blanchett, the incredible melting woman!), but perhaps it was way too similar to "Raiders" climatic ending, so It's easy to understand the reason why it was rejected.
