Clearly, audiences were quite keen to see Dr. Jones kick some Russian ass in the currently playing INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL or they may have spotted the 48 (and counting) mistakes that the cool peeps at MovieMistakes.com have picked up, making it the most mistake ridden film of 2008 so far. Check it:

Visible crew/equipment: When the female Russian is climbing down the cliff you are able to see for a brief second the cable from the harness holding her up right next to the rope on which she is climbing down.

Continuity: When Mutt slams his fist on the table in the Diner the Ketchup and Mustard bottles fall over, the shot pans to Indiana's back and the bottles are standing up again, he tells Mutt to sit down, the camera pans back to Mutts back and the bottles are as they were after Mutt slammed the table and Indiana picks them both up.

Factual error: The movie supposedly is taking place in 1957, yet the motorcycle that Mutt rides is based on a 2000 or newer Harley Davidson softail, showing the modern day controls and Twin Cam motor, instead of the panhead motor that would have been the period correct engine of 1957.

Check out the rest over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: IRON MAN is second with only 15 mistakes.

You Get a Life, Mang
Before anyone freaks out any further and tells people to get lives, if you watch a ton of films--the whole screen, not just mouths or eyes like most filmgoers--you can easily spot continuity mistakes or anachronisms. Cataloguing them is not at all a bad thing, especially on open source sites where many contribute.

Cataloguing them is not at all a bad thing, especially on open source sites where many contribute.

I can forgive some anachronisms; sometimes budgets don't allow for the exact replica of a certain car or moto (this budget should have, though), but errors in continuity are annoying and sloppy, like turning in your final essay to a professor with a big old coffee ring on it and expecting an "A." Plus, noting such things makes you a better film viewer all around--if you study the craft, that is.

Haven't seen Indy; will probably catch it on DVD or, worse, online somewhere--I'd like to remember him as I did when a child: a hero with a boulder hot on his heels.

Whatever
Yea, what AdNauseum said. Noone goes to the movies to watch for mistakes. If you are one of these, you need to get a life. Who cares if there's mistakes in the film. It was made to watch, not to nitpik about. Those whole are pointing them out, you're morons and you still live in your mama's basement, get a life and leave the movies alone. Enjoy them, thats what they're for.

THAT MANY, HUH?
Jeez....I didn't know there were so many mistakes in Indy 4. Honestly when I watch movies (even tho I am a film student and should f'n disect a movie when I watch it), I really, really don't bother about the technical aspects or 'finding mistakes'. These guys must have a really sharp eye for these things and / or not enjoy good movies at all. As long as the flick's entertaining I guess I just, ...

And that's how I'd like it to stay. How annoying would it be to look at every mistake and find every error and wonder how they did the make-up for the Joker....hehe. I'm not crticizing them I'm just saying...that's no way to enjoy a movie, especially something as huge as Indy 4.

Alot of it seems sloppy if you ask me, certainly not what you would come to expect from Spielberg. It certainly isn't the worst offender, is Titanic not riddled with continuity and factual errors?

that's amazingly lazy work
The ketchup and the cable is sloppy, but the modern bike is just bad film work. Surprising these famous guys make such blatant mistakes. Sure its details, but with the amount of time, money and people involved, that's crappy.

come on...
people seem to be taking this really seriously. the article's supposed to be fun, fanboy entertainment. like in the scene in star wars: episode IV where the storm trooper hits his head on the doorway, or the suburban that can be seen in the background during fellowship of the ring, this stuff is simply fun to know. i don't think it's meant to be as critical as some are taking it.

correct me if im wrong...
the point here is that on a film of this scale, the details are important. true, just about any film has errors in it, but when there's 50 of 'em? c'mon, that needs being commented on.

bladerunner, my fave film of all time, had many well-documented errors, that were all taken care of in the recent re-release 25th anniversary edition.

bladerunner, my fave film of all time, had many well-documented errors, that were all taken care of in the recent re-release 25th anniversary edition.

this because all the true fans noted them and talked about them all the time, glaring as they were. indy 4 sucked, it was cheesy, lame, and a real "kiddie" film...even correcting the errors for the eventual dvd release, it wont be on my xmas wishlist.

errors grate on the nerves, one or two might slip by the editors, but a couple of dozen reeks of a rush job, i dont pay $12 for that privilege, i expect it to be right the first time.

YA FOR A.D.D PATIENTS
What movie doesn't have continuity mistakes.

Missing the bigger picture is what this column is about.

No intelligent discussion about Story arcs, cinematography
or other related thing. it's like the Kansas city shuffle:

LOOK AT THE PRETTY MOVING PICTURES WHILE WE RIP

YOU OFF AT THE GAS PUMP & KEEP YOU STUPID AND

kinda amusing, but...
If the movie had more mistakes in continuity/etc... but was great in the entertainment factor, then I wouldn't mind.
I won't consider this an excuse to notch up why I didn't like it. But it is kinda funny.

Big movies get big attention too, though.

The only mistake in any film which I truly noticed was in X-Men: The Last Stand. When Wolverine is in the forest fighting the man who's throwing spikes, the spikes go through his shirt making holes. In the next scene, the shirt is fine lol

It's OK. By the DVD release Lucas will have digitally corrected everything (for better or for worse).

Are you serious? An article about a movie's mistakes? Almost every movie ever made has mistakes, and it's more common in a big-budget action film... Who cares?
