Strike Back below!

Leonardo DiCaprio "Spawn" creator Todd McFarlane has been talking up a SPAWN revamp for some time now but now he seems to be getting pretty ambitious with casting the main character who, interestingly, isn't the tortured one-time Hell resident. He recently told MTV, "The main character isn’t Spawn, per se, it’s the guy chasing Spawn. And I’ve always had [Leonardo] DiCaprio in the back of my mind.” Um, and how the hell did you make that leap there, McFarly? "…his dad was a big fan of underground comic books and he came from that. It’s not a big special-effects movie, it’s a character movie, so I could shoot it in 40-50 days and you don’t have to budget that much time.” Sure, DiCaprio may have expressed a passing interest in comic books and/or comic book movies before but signing on to a Spawn movie? Probably not gonna happen. Read more about what McFarlane had to say about the film over HERE.

Extra Tidbit: How awesome is Leonardo DiCaprio? He can dump supermodel Bar Rafaeli without so much as a second thought. BAR GODDAMN RAFAELI!!

At first I thought it said that Dicaprio was playing Spawn...I wouldnt really be behind that.

Dicaprios an amazing actor, so Id be on board with him being in anything to be honest.

As for the movie itself..there are some die hard Spawn fans to impress, we'll see what they do!

I don't know about Leo in a Spawn film...BUT if they could do it as good as the animated series, I'd be the first in line!

Why Leo?
I stopped reading the comic ages ago, so I don't know if this is an actual comic character he's trying to cast Leo as (I assume so?) But why? Is he trying to bring clout to this project by having a big-name actor?

File a new Spawn movie happening alongside Leo starring in such under things also probably not happening.

SPAWN = GOOD
I've read a lot of the older Spawn comics and it's pretty good. Gets kinda draggy at times but the basis of the story is good, has strong characters, etc. I think if this is backed up by the right people and if it's well-written, a Spawn movie without a lot of Spawn could work. It won't make bank, but it'll be one of those Zodiac-ish, kinda low-budget-ish,

i think that's a really cool premise. i'd like to see it happen.

Come on, dude, that's not cool. The whole purpose of the strikeback section is to give our opinions on the news in the articles, not to fucking insult each other. I didn't like the news so I gave my opinion. There's no need to tell me off about it.

And maybe you didn't read my entire post but I said I also don't like DiCaprio as an actor.

Dicaprio has done nothing to impress you? Those are some tall words. Oh well.

I think Mcfarlane is aiming to high.

Todd McFarlane is cool in my opinion. He's very creative and did a lot of innovative stuff while working in the comic bizz.

DiCaprio however, has done nothing to impress me. He really irritates me and I can't stand him in any movie I've seen him in. I did think he fit the part perfectly in Revolutionary Road though as a manchild.

So, it disappoints me that McFarlane would even consider working with him.

As for the extra tidbit, no, I don't think DiCaprio is awesome. He only dates supermodels, how f#cking shallow is that? And no, I'm not jealous, I would rather have a relationship that had a possibility of being serious rather than just showing off.

For the record, DiCaprio might be a nice guy in real life so I don't judge him but just based on his performances and his constant dating of supermodels, I'm very annoyed with this guy.

No offense to his fans though. He just really bothers me.
