Christopher Lee The cast for Tim Burton's upcoming live action/CGI hybrid re-imagining of Lewis Carroll's classic, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, is growing by leaps and bounds. So far, we have Mia Wasikowska as the titular Alice, Jonny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts, Matt Lucas as Tweedledum and Tweedledee and Michael Sheen in an unspecified role. Today, we can add three more names to that list, as well as reveal Sheen's role. According to Zdonk, Sheen has been cast as the Cheshire Cat and Alan Rickman has been cast as the Caterpillar. Further, according to "Christopher Lee Web", the Brit veteran has been cast in an unspecified role. Finally, THIS SITE is saying that young Eleanor Tomlinson has been cast as Alice's friend Fiona Chataway, who appears at the film's onset in a role written specifically for the movie. Whew! The film's set for release March 5th, 2010.

Extra Tidbit: Ubiquitous composer and Burton regular Danny Elfman confirms HERE that he'll be involved in composing the film's music.

Just read that Alan Rickman is playing Caterpillar. I can totally see him saying "Whoooo are you?" puffing smokies.

Nothing against Michael Sheen, but if you're gonna bring back Burton regulars how about Jack Nicholson as the Cheshire Cat? Not even as just the voice, put some ears on his head and pin a tail to him and I'll watch that for two hours. I'm pretty sure with enough scotch in his system he can disappear and reappear at will anyway.

This movie gets better and better by the day. First Crispin Glover, and now Sheen as CC and Alan Rickman! That just adds some serious street cred to this movie.

As far as I understand it, the Wonderland portions will be Motion Capture, the CGI counterparts however, will be modeled after the actors' likenesses a la Beowulf.
