Just as I was about to head out to finally see NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN this morning, I checked my inbox to see an e-mail promising "six never seen promotional stills for The Dark Knight." Now that's just about enough to get my attention and sure enough, they were something I had never seen. They look like they're slides scanned in from a promotional photoshoot. Unfortunately, they don't look like the best photos ever. The lighting is kinda off and they're out of context so it's not the best representation of The Joker and Batman ever. So far I'm not exactly won over by Heath Ledger's Joker but one thing we haven't seen yet is him in action. That will change in two weeks when the new trailer is released attached to prints of I AM LEGEND. Then all this debate will either subside or increase tenfold. Check out the pics below and thanks to "Beren" for sending them in!

The second row of photos are exactly what I wanted from the joker. They just project manic nut job of the highest order. I'm not sure about the deep lined forehead on the bottom set of photos though, nor the batsuit.....

Okay--Ledger looks awesome...that's pretty much how the Joker should look in a movie, I think. But what's up with the Bat-suit? WAY too busy, teched-out, it looks fucking stupid, I'm sorry.

The pics are meant for the merch (Toys, kiddie posters, etc). Like those Batman Begins posters that you see at Toys R Us, so they're suppose to be 'silly'. Though I don't know how they can make this Joker..kiddy.

I think the photographer isn't good at lightning nor positioning the actors.

HOWEVER, I think the Batsuit is good looking. I think the Joker is interesting. I just don't like the poses, but I can't blame Bale or Ledger for that.

even with the weak lighting still loveing these Joker pics. The Joker to me will always be Jack but i think heith will do him some justice too.

my first reaction also was the weird grey in his pecs. but other than that, i think ledger looks great, and the rest of the suit looks pretty cool. can't wait for the trailer!

I realize the spandex look doesn't carry over on film but I've never cared for the mechanical feel they give the Bat-suit. I liked Burton's take on it.

Not saying the pic here doesn't look good, just my 2 cents on the matter.

Bale aside, WTF have they done to Bats' head?! It looks like they've actually gone and made the bat-suit out of leggo! Is this a tie-in deal? And finally, I worked out my beef with Ledger - his head goes sideways in both directions. He looks like The Jokers chubby younger brother. I didn't want to be a hater, and I've denied these feelings the whole time that TDK has been gestating, but I think under all the pomp and affectation of critical seriousness, this is the bloating of another attempt to get Bats back in the air after Schumacher shot him down before.

I've been really against Ledger being cast as the Joker, I thought it was a bad call. But these promo pics...I'm warming up to the idea. Ledger looks really creepy and like he is really getting into the character. ...

This is so great! I love the promos, especially the one's with Ledger. Personally, I think it's just a warm-up of him getting into character. I'm really getting hiped up about this! Can't wait.
