No Hell for young Page Mar. 1, 2008

Newly A-listed youngster Ellen Page was gathering projects like the proverbial rolling snowball, but that avalanche has subsided a bit -- she's suddenly no longer involved with the previously announced DRAG ME TO HELL, director Sam Raimi's anticipated return to his horror roots.

It's a "scheduling conflict", according to Raimi's production company Ghost House: "We were racing to start production so that we could accommodate Ellen's schedule. But like so many other productions trying to start before the potential SAG strike date, this one needed more time and we had to push back the start of production."

But Bloody Disgusting has a different spin on that spin, claiming it was either post-Oscar cold feet, or she had problems with the script (maybe not enough random catchphrases or character quirks, honest to blog, LAWL). Either way, Raimi will be swiftly recasting the part for his movie, described as a "morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse."

Page continues to build steam (as both an actress and a curiously pervasive object of desire) with Drew Barrymore's roller derby project and the recently announced thriller PEACOCK, with Cillian Murphy.

Extra Tidbit: Roger Ebert said, "Has there been a better performance this year than Ellen Page's creation of Juno? I don't think so". This was clearly before he saw THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

Hi, Miss Page, I'd like to introduce you to Backlash.

While Backlash loved you insinuating the castration of a pedophile, especially since the film in question did not make millions of dollars, Backlash is insulted that you might make choices which will gain you fame with housewives and that lovely bunch of people referred to as "tweeners."

Backlash would like to alert you that it found you first and instilled in you the confidence to go in search of roles which might offer you a larger paycheck.

Backlash is very possessive and becomes personally offended if you wander outside of the realm of which it deems suitable for you.

Heed Backlash closely, Miss Page. Then do whatever the f*ck you want to do anyway. It's what got Backlash's attention in the first place.

Enjoy your millions,

Sincerely,

Zara

Yeah, you're right I have to bitch about everything Mike and Scarfather. That's probably why for the first time in the almost six years I've been a member I'm critiquing something here on JOBLO. Why am I such an asshole, geez.

The constant "fanboying" that occurs in these articles does get annoying after a while. Every article has the author's slant all over it.

And no, this has nothing to do with my opinion of Ellen Page or Juno (though I do enjoy both). This is just something I have noticed becoming more and more prevalent in the news section here.

I come to JOBLO to find out the newest in movie news-which it is great at-, not for why the reporter thinks it may or may not suck.

But maybe it's just my bad I guess.

I'm sorry, but am I the only one sick of the writers' opinions in every single report? It seems like now each writer cares more about how to show his or her opinion then giving us the straight forward news.

As another member in that anti-EP club, I'd say this is good news. I honestly have no idea why everyone loves her so much. Ugh.

No offense if you like her, good for you.

On paper, that movie sounds to be God-awful. Good move for her. No matter what the reason, this is a good move. Everyone really hates on 'Juno' so much. I thought it was good, I had no idea it was that good.
