Anyway, I like the first Punisher, I think Tom Jane gave a shit about the character whether you have a problem with travolta or other corny things in the movie you still have to look at Jane and his dedication to it. He didn't pass on it for no reason.

Maybe we'll get a longer trailer, and perhaps I'll be wrong on my first assumptions but I just don't see it happening.

Just a warning so none of you get your hopes up and like the film less because of it: There's no cameo involving Captain America (not even after the credits) Though the scene involving Tony Stark is a lot of fun. (Just figured I'd warn you so you're not set up for disappointment.

Maybe the violence in this flick will provide enough in the way of visceral thrills for the movie to be entertaining, but it's one thing to make a Punisher flick that's hard-as-balls, it's another to make a movie that has the right aesthetic feel to go with the subject matter.

We need to see a Punisher movie with the same sort of visual style of James Wan's Death Sentence... That movie fucking rocked on so many levels.

Oh and one more thing: The dangling upside down and twirling around on a rope and shooting dudes left and right is pretty fucking retarded. It only worked in The Boondock Saints coz of the funny lead-up.

I love the new guy, even though Jane will always have a spot in my little fanboy heart. The director is ace, and I love the almost '80s-style color scheme. That line at the end is top notch too. I can't wait.

Now, I'm not too sure if this style they're going for will win over any new fans, but it does look promising to a certain degree. The Tom Jane Punisher was watered down with cheezy action segments (burning skull in parking lot) and campy dialogue at times that really detracted from the picture.

This film has a chance to get back to a more gritty and less family friendly version of the Punisher. Just from watching this trailer I'm not sure if they have gone gritty enough. I remember watching Tom Jane's Punisher and thinking to myself, "if only they could have gun-play that's on par with HEAT, or just some other serious crime film." Honestly, my ideal version of the Punisher would be seeing him placed in a real world setting, as real as you can make this character without hamming it up and letting him loose.

I know the Punisher is more of a "real" take on a superhero, but how can anyone in their right mind spin around in circles and shoot people hanging upside down!??!? Maybe a different take on the Punisher could lead to brighter pastures....maybe something along the lines of a murder investigation that follows the wake of carnage left by the Punisher!? They could show flashbacks to what happened, pleasing action fans and then following all that up with the investigators actually crossing paths with Castle.

I have probably put way too much thought into this, but it's not the violence I'm looking for in a Punisher film. I just want something that can be taken serious, and came off as something that could plausibly happen.

Who knows, I'll reserve judgment for the the film once it lands in December. Until then this trailer has left me with an odd [link] odd.

Well this looks like it could be a possibly good restart for the punisher franchise. Granted thomas jane did nice and he established the emotional side of frank castle but the real meat and potatoes at times seemed to get lost in all the schemes and random planning. That is not even counting the fact that travolta and tampa just wasnt quite the right place for a story start. This however could allow the franchise what it needs to go back to where it belongs. As for anyone that wants to compare this to the other marvel super hero movies, dont even think of doing that. Punisher is not some super hero with a flashy cape. Just a long vigilante with a chip on his shoulder the size of new york. As long as they get the violence level right and do the fight scenes with the usual quality gun play than this could possibly be a nice way to get the ball rolling and if not to finally put a final nail in the coffin while digging a suitable trench to bury it in.

I hope this is better, but like the Hulk I feel they will go overboard with action and forget that the ather movies did have it's qualities. This guy looks more like a Punisher, but I liked Jane a LOT as the renegade soldier.
