For me, the mother of all Frank Miller adaptations was never SIN CITY or 300 (as great as those films turned out to be) but RONIN. It was the book I loved the most next to, maybe, HARD BOILED. I know this isn't the most popular stance, but it is what it is. So I'm excited to see that Warner Bros. is moving ahead with a RONIN movie. According to IESB, the man to direct the film is the man who directed STOMP THE YARD. Wait... The man to direct RONIN is the man who directed STOMP THE YARD? And I'LL ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER? Color me quite skeptical but curious still. I don't know much about White (other than what I read on IMDB and in his interview with The Arrow here) but Warner Bros. seems to respect the Miller fans and is very proud of 300 so here's hoping they know what they're talking about. For more, you can check out BlackFilm.com's recent interview with White where he talks more about directing RONIN.

Extra Tidbit: Ronin was a six-issue mini series published by DC from 1983 to 1984 and was one of the first creator-owned titles.

Don't care about all this Miller stuff. Sin City way overated, and so is the 300 trailer. Anyways, "Ronin" was a great movie. De Niro and Jean Reno. Awesome

Don't get me wrong, I dig Miller's work. I'm just not sure Ronin can be converted into a movie format without losing a lot of the style of the graphic novel. I'll see it if its made, but I'm worried...

If they do it right by staying close to the original material in scope and tone it could be epic. If they don't it will just be another piece of shit Sci-fi flick.

I was a wee bit teenager when this came out and was very impressed by the artwork and scope of the story. My favorite G Novel for a long time.
This can be a cool movie if they capture the story correctly and dont try to underscore or over produce it.
Its some kick ass action and images but also its a pre matrix type thing with concsciousness and such.
If anything, visually, and using the tech behind 300, it will be a sight to behold. All I can say is - please have Mr Miller involved in some way to make sure it stays true to itself.

Im hoping this guy has just been pluggin along making shit until he can get something he really cares about made, ie. this. I am definently scared for Ronin.
