Strike Back below!
by: Omar Aviles Jan. 25, 2008

Saw 4 Both IGN and Bloody Disgusting recently confirmed some casting info for the upcoming SAW V. Obviously, the mastermind behind all this torture madness, Tobin Bell aka Jigsaw, will be back dispensing morality-based agony once again - SPOILER! - from beyond the grave but it seems Scott Patterson, who recently joined the franchise in SAW IV, and Costas Mandylor, who's a relatively experienced SAW alum having become part of the fun torture games in SAW III, will also be back possibly begging for release from Jigsaw's traps. This time around David Hackl will be directing from a script by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Production is expected to begin March 17th for an October 24th release.

Extra Tidbit: Not only has Hackl been a production designer on all the SAW films since SAW II but he was also PD on former SAW franchise director Darren Lynn Bousman's upcoming REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA!

Enough already!
No more SAW please! How much more can you milk this franchise? Please take a break and come up with something new!

All previous SAW movies were made in a very short amount of time, so the ultra-short filming period doesn't have me in the least bit worried. I'm only worried that they'll try to continue past a sixth movie (which is all Tobin Bell is signed on for at the moment). I personally thought SAW IV was great, and brilliantly executed after the seemingly locked-down situations of III - I expect only ...

I'm hip to this news, you bet!

just give the series a rest, like maybe a good three years or somethin just long enough to write a more then by the numbers script. this series should seriously end allready.

dude, Costas is Hoffman. Remember where HE was at films end and what he was doing? I have the feeling that we won't be seeing him tortured....of course, it could be in a flashback, so....maybe

Also, this reminds me of when this site reported that Jessica Alba was gonna be in SAW IV. Ah, memories...

Sweet! Fresh Blood!
Even though the cast may not be entirely new, I'm glad to see a new person in the director's chair. I hope this takes us somewhere new.
