Is Rhona Mitra an acceptable substitute for Kate Beckinsale? After seeing her stomp ass in DOOMSDAY, I'll vote to the affirmative.
Mitra picks up the sword to play the female lead in the UNDERWORLD prequel RISE OF THE LYCANS, which takes us back in time to chronicle the clash between the vampire Death Dealers and the werewolves of the subtitle. Although Mitra steps in as proxy warrior Sonja to replace Beckinsale's Selene, most of the major players from the first movie return (Bill Nighy, Michael Sheen, Shane Brolly) while FX guy Patrick Tatopoulos takes over as director.

The Danny McBride who co-created the franchise is not the same guy playing sidekick in the upcoming TROPIC THUNDER, PINEAPPLE EXPRESS and LAND OF THE LOST.
