Abrams' Salt and Gorn Nov. 20, 2009

A little while ago, I showed you what J.J. Abrams' Klingons would have looked like had they not been cut from the final version of STAR TREK, and the result was that actually, they were pretty damn cool. Well, according to this special feature from the DVD (via TrekMovie), there were other classic Trek creatures cut during the Klingon prison scene as well.

Below you’ll find Abrams’ renditions of the Salt Vampire and Gorn, which unfortunately we never got to see on screen. Gorn of course, is legendary for his famous fist fight with Kirk which made for one of the most ridiculously awesome moments of the original series.

Check them out below and head over to TrekMovie for the full feature.

Extra Tidbit: I think I'd actually prefer Borg or Klingons over Khan in the next movie.

Freakin' salt vampires gave me nightmares as a kid....They could always do a mirror universe Star Trek movie..Spock with a Beard = Badass.

Secondly, am I the only one who noticed that the Klingon torturer sounded ridiculously like Paul Frees? Are we in a Klingon interrogation chamber or the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland?

I'm down with Khan. But rather than doing a "Wrath of Khan" remake, I'd like to see a re-imagining of Space Seed.

I agree with a few who basically are saying forget Khan! Bring the Klingons and/or some of the Original Series aliens in up to date (of course) versions. Yea, too many to name here.

C'MON you are going to do TWO new movies with no Klingons?? They are a great villain. We need Klingons in ST2.

Forget Khan, I want to see more of The Gorn. Especially if they're going to look like that! The Gorn has been completely untouched, aside from one TOS episode and an alternate universe Enterprise episode, so JJ would have free range to recreate them as, well, basically anything.

I'd also, rather than Khan, see them have some Vulcan terrorists in the next film. Where a sect of Vulcans blames the Romulans for their planet's destruction and commit terrorist acts on the Romulan Empire. That could be fairly timely while playing off some of the changes to the universe in XI.

Just needed to shake things up a bit (couldn't type Kahn!!! again). I would like to see Kahn again, personally. Of course, since we have yet to meet him in the new universe, the plot would have to be closer to the Space Seed episode... or, even better, a completely new way to introduce the man, the legend, the bare chested wonder.

I would also prefer Khan. This could be a good story. We have had enough Borg.. Unless it's a 7of9 type Borg ;-)

I'm not opposed to Khan appearing in the next Trek as long as he's not the villain and introduced solely to set him up as the antagonist for a later flick.

Extra Tidbit: Or Cardassians maybe.

btw, nice looking updates for those classic creatures. Gorn looks much better than cgi version from Enterprise.

Really? Isn't Khan one of the most popular villains in cinema history? And the Borg are really Next Generation villains, but abrams could make them fit. But Khan is the man.
