Indy Skull DVDs Oct. 8, 2008
Source: Paramount
by: Dave Davis

Assuming you enjoyed INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, you'll probably be heading out next week to snatch the flick on DVD.

Well, depending on where you decide to crack your whip, you can get various other treats along with the disc. The retailer specific packages are:

Circuit City - 2 lithographs of concept art from the movie.

Best Buy -Gift Set with replica crystal skull from Sideshow Collectibles and a $25 gift card to Sideshowcollectibles.com.

Target -Exclusive Packaging is a beautiful hard cover book from Palace Press with 80 pages of behind the scenes photos, including many never-before-published images.

Kmart & Sears -Four Exclusive LEGO mini-posters. Each poster is a LEGO replica of the original theatrical poster from all four Indy films.

Trans World -Exclusive Steelbook Packaging.

Extra Tidbit: Seems like Best Buy is the best bet. Disclaimer: Crystal Skull replica does not have healing powers or contain alien spirits. Probably.

Debating between the FYE steelbook or the Target edition. I only have 1 steelbook and that's the special 2 disc edition of Iron Man. I was very satisfied with the Iron Man steelbook so I'll probably end up buying the steelbook for this movie.

By the way, Indy 4 wasn't that bad of a movie. It was a very good, entertaining popcorn flick. But out of the whole series it was definitely the weakest film. But other than that I really did enjoy the movie and can't wait to play this bad boy on my flat screen.

Target's gift sets I think come with more practical items. It came with a mini (but not abridged) version of the "Bond on Set" book with the 2 disc release of Casino Royale. Although the Best Buy set is cool, I'd get more use out of the book.

Damn it all if it wasn't a hard choice. I'm becoming a Steelbook Fan (count is up to 5 right now) and going to FYE is the obvious choice for me...but that is really nice sidepiece in the Best Buy DVD.

I second Apeman's comment, I hate having to go through 5 different websites to see who has the best gift-set.

I'm waiting on a four pack BluRay of all the Indiana Jones movies. I won't "complete my collection" until that comes out. The first three are worth replacing my standard def with BluRays, but I don't want Kingdom of the Crystal Skull all by itself. No thanks George Lucas.

And the new South Park last night was oh so right about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. So wrong (a little too... umm.. graphic?) but oh so right.

LOVED THE FIRST THREE, BUT...
How many times will you want to sit through that piece-of-shit movie in years to come once you get the DVD/BR.

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT
if someone did this EVERY WEEK! I spend a good 45 minutes every Monday Evening/Tuesday Morning scouring the web to find what the best 'Gift Package' is for the Tentpole DVD of that week. While I have a tendency towards Best Buy just about every time, Target did snag my Iron Man and Transformers cash. 300 Helmet-Best Buy, V for Vendetta Mask-Best Buy - I Love this stuff - and would appreciate a special section of this site for just such a cause.

The Best Buy exclusive is exactly like the Iron Man exclusive, only you got a $50 gift certificate instead to Sideshow, weird.

It's a pretty damn slick package but like the Iron Man package, it will only come with the 2-Disc DVD. I need Blu-ray baby.

nodirectionhome, why the hell would you buy it if it's "horrible?" That's about the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

I don't like to watch man-on-man porn, so I'm going to leave it on the shelf for those who enjoy it.
