If you've been drooling at the thought of watching IRON MAN on your home theater setup, you don't have that much longer to wait. Paramount has announced that IRON MAN will hit DVD and Blu-ray on September 30th. The film will be available in a two-disc "Ultimate Edition" that will include a seven-part documentary on the making of the film and a six-part featurette on the origins of IRON MAN. The Blu-ray disc will include exclusive features like "Iron Man IQ," which will allow you to create quizzes based on clips from the film and share them with your friends, and "Hall of Armor" that will allow viewers to view the Iron Man and Iron Monger armor in 3-D. For those who ain't down with all that fancy pants bullshit, there will also be a bare bones single-disc edition that will include the movie and a few deleted scenes. With over $300 million at the box-office, IRON MAN is already the 2nd biggest movie of the year and will surely be just as huge on DVD (it's already #27 on Amazon's bestselling DVD list). Now all those people who left the movie before the credits were over and missed the Nick Fury scene will be able to see it in the comfort of their own home! Here's a full list of DVD extras:
Disc 1:
- Feature film - Deleted/Extended Scenes

- I Am Iron Man o The Journey Begins o The Suit that makes the Iron Man o The Walk of Destruction o Grounded In Reality o Beneath the Armor o It’s All in the Details o A Good Story, Well Told

CS/SHH!: Are you still working on DVD features?
Favreau: Yeah, we are going to do a commentary. I just got delivered a whole bunch of extras that look really, really good. We had cameras on the set all the time. They put together something for "Iron Man" that spans from the first story meetings, to designing the suit, all the way through mixing it up at Skywalker Ranch, through the premiere. There are hours and hours of great stuff that will be available eventually. We have to look over all of that stuff so there is still a lot of work to be done. Then there is trying to figure out where the hell we are now and what we are doing.

You'd actually be surprised how many stars still have to screen test for roles. For example, the great Samuel L. Jackson had to audition for his famous PULP FICTION role. He won it, but then Tarantino auditioned someone else and gave them the part. Sam Jackson had to come back and audition again to get the part back. So it definitely does happen. Personally I think it's a good thing. I'd rather have an actor, regardless of how big of a star he or she is, earn the part by auditioning for it rather than having it handed it to them just because they're "so and so".
Sounds like a really well put together DVD, which is pleasantly surprisingly. Am I the only who finds it odd that even Robert Downey Jr. still has to screentest for roles? He's fucking Robert Downey Jr.
