Keanu Reeves says we may be getting two new Matrix films (in 3D)

UPDATEScreenRant got in touch with the school where Keanu Reeves allegedly made the statements below only to find out (not really a big surprise) that Keanu Reeves never spoke at their school. Rumor: Busted.

Are you guys fans of the THE MATRIX trilogy? I like the first film alright, am actually a bigger fan of THE MATRIX RELOADED, and think THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS is a pile of poop. So for me, I’m ambivalent about it, which in turn makes me ambivalent to Keanu Reeves saying that the Wachowskis have completed work on a brand new, two-picture script treatment that would mark a return to the green-hued binary code world.

Thanks to a scooper at AICN who heard Reeves speak at the London School of Performing Arts, the word is that the Wachowskis have completed a two-picture script treatment that would see Reeves return to the world of The Matrix as Neo. Should that world come back to the big screen, expect it to be three-dimensionalized. The Wachowskis have apparently met with 3D maestro James Cameron to discuss the pros and cons of filming in the format. They’re looking to deliver “something which has never been seen again.” Here’s more from AICN:

“Keanu stated that he still has an obligation to the fans to deliver a movie worthy of the title “The Matrix” and he swears this time that the treatment will truly revolutionise the action genre like the first movie.”

The Wachowskis are currently at work on the Tom Tykwer-directed adaptation CLOUD ATLAS.
