ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES! Another day, another remake. This time, the 1978 cult horror classic ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!, in which a mutated band of ravenous, homicidal tomatoes go on a terrorizing rampage, is being remade. The creators of the popular web series, "Ask a Ninja", Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine, having paid their dues toiling away in the internet YouTubes coal mines, have been promoted into the niche horror outskirts of Hollywood. One small step for Sarine and Nichols, one giant step for killer tomatoes. They both will be scripting with Nichols making his directorial debut. Nichols had this to say of the remake: "'Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!' is the masterwork of a generation. We can only aspire to recapture that magic." True that, brother.

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Extra Tidbit: TOMATOES' protagonist is Mason Dixon, which also happens to be the name of Antonio Tarver's character's name in ROCKY BALBOA. Also to note is that George Clooney starred in the 1988 sequel RETURN OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!

what the hell?
It's one of those fluke bad movies that became an unnecessary cult classic.

In an attempt to capture lightning in a bottle a second time, they once again squander precious funds on SHIT.

I love the original but since it was a very silly movie and not one that was made to be a masterpiece its not as easy to mess up as say A Nightmare on Elm St. as long as they remain true to the source, lets just hope this is closer to Airplane! than to Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans.

And what ever happened to Attack of the Killer Carrots :p

Interesting
I've never seen the original (shame on me) even though I do know of TKT, a remake to this sounds like it could introduce this story and characters to a whole new audience including myself, sounds good.
