Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Nov. 14, 2008

Just a day after releasing the trailer for one of their most anticipated movies of 2009 (see the new WATCHMEN trailer here), Warner Bros. has released the trailer for another one of their most anticipated movies from 2009. Set to hit theaters next week attached to prints of TWILIGHT, the new trailer for HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE is online now. I'm not much of a POTTER fan so I won't pass much judgment but it looks pretty good to me. What are you guys thinking?...

Source: WB

Extra Tidbit: Ralph Fiennes' nephew, Hero, plays a younger version of his character Voldemort in the film.

Curious...
Trailer looks great. But I'm curious...with the release date getting pushed off so far and the Deathly Hollows starting up filming soon, might we see a teaser trailer for Part 1 Deathly Hollows at the beginning of this release? Man, that would be a good movie going experience.

This looks great! This was my favorite book, and the trailer seems to capture the dark mood well.

Also . . .
I like the changing tint to the video, from a green (Goblet of Fire), to a blue (Order of the Phoenix), to a grayish-blue color. It is an effective touch to make each film darker and slightly different. I think this started, however, with Prisoner of Azkaban, which then became a good trend.

The Theme Music
Personally, for me, I found the most interesting aspect of the trailer--and this is not to say the rest wasn't good--to be the alteration of the Harry Potter theme music at the end. Personally, for me, I found the most interesting aspect of the trailer--and this is not to say the rest wasn't good--to be the alteration of the Harry Potter theme music at the end. From what I remember, the music at the end is usually softer, playing the melody with what sounds like a music box, creating a lullaby effect. This trailer had a more ominous feel, with the entire orchestra playing the notes of the theme. It gave it more urgency and aggressiveness and, despite only being a trailer for a long-to-be-released film, it seems to be building up to the final confrontation in "Deathly Hollows." In fact, the whole trailer seems to reflect a darkness and urgency surrounding Harry Potter as the chosen one ready for battle. The heavy orchestration as the title of the film appeared, instead of the gentle theme, seemed to emphasize this dark urgency. This stood out to me and while I am not a big Harry Potter fan, I felt myself drawn in by this build up. When a trailer is able to do that, it deserves some accolades.

WOW
I for one was bummed out when they moved this to next year, but it appears the film will be worth the extra wait. My favorite part would have to be when Ginny is going in to kiss Harry. Friggin' sweet.

I've always enjoyed the books more than the flicks to be honest. The adaptation of PRISONER OF AZKABAN is the only one I really enjoyed (casting Gary Oldman as Sirius Black was absolutely brilliant) and I have to say they did an admirable job with GOBLET OF FIRE considering the books length (Ralph Fiennes' casting as Voldemort was also brilliant).

I loathed the ORDER OF THE PHOENIX flick, but this one looks pretty good. Considering that HALF BLOOD PRINCE is a fairly short book (considering the length of the two that preceded it) so I'm confident that they'll be able to pull off a worthy adaptation with this.

I have the same confidence for DEATHLY HALLOWS, although I rather hoped Guillermo del Toro would direct that, but I doubt that's likely now he's officially doing THE HOBBIT.

Wow, between that and the Watchmen, both of which I have read and really liked, I can't decide which movie I'm more excited for.

Why is this getting a release online before the new Trek trailer? Gay...I really enjoyed the Trek trailer and want to see it again in all its HD glory.

why why why
do the international trailers for these films always look and play out 50 times better than our trailers?

I did like it, before anyone asks, I was just wondering.
