On a technical note (and I am speaking as a professional video editor), the trailer was edited together rather sloppily, and, as a result, did not get my sold out audience nearly as excited as they should have been. It needed a major injection of energy.

However, what it DID show was that Nolan will indeed deliver a brilliant film and Ledger will most likely give the best Joker performance to date.

This trailer is beautifully done, but I HAVE to say that it pales in comparison to actually seeing it with sharp clarity in the theater...I CANNOT wait to have a HD version, Sunday is too far away :)

Also, If you happen to live near an IMAX screen, you must watch the small clip before I Am Legend. I watched it last night and it is absolutely orgasmically perfect.

Wait for a higher res clip or see it in the theater. This clip does not do justice.

With everyone (including me) discussing the Joker, some other aspects of the film has been neglected. We got to see the batcycle in action and I thought it looked pretty good. Also, we saw Maggie Gyllenhal as Rachel Dawes. This might be minor, but I was surprised how much she resembles Katie Holmes. She looks enough like the previous Rachel Dawes to not hurt the continuity too much, but at least Gyllenhal can act. It looks like, as everyone anticipated, this movie will live up to expectations and surpass the quality of the first movie. Nolan might be the best hire for a comic book series of all time! The best thing that a studio can do is hire directors and actors that invest everything into their movies and take their films seriously. They got this with Nolan, Bale (known for changing voices and losing weight to fit a role) and now Ledger. They proved that a comic book movie doesn't have to be corny but instead treated like any other film, with a good story, excellent acting,and every other aspect that is important in filmmaking. It is then that action can complement the story instead of replacing it. Isn't that one of the biggest flaws of action movies today?

It looks like Heath Ledger really invested himself in this role. Hearing the Joker voice and watching Ledger's performance, I can understand why he felt so drained after filming each scene. Once again, Christopher Nolan proves that he knows what he is doing. The kind of effort that Ledger made to portray this dark, sinister version of Joker shows a dedication that reveals what evry good actor needs: the willingness to do anything to get into character. He seems to care about what the fans think in a way, because by investing everything he has into the Joker, physically draining himself, he is showing that he wants to provide the best comic book villain that fans could ever want to see. I don't think any fan can claim he didn't try and, from the looks of it, he succeeded. This movie just keeps looking better!

Edit: Watching this trailer in low quality, it appears that Heath Ledger's Joker has the potential to not only be one of the best portrayed villains in comic book movies, but he could possibly be the most memorable villains in recent cinema. He could be ranked up there with Hannibal Lechtor! To think people doubted his acting.

I saw the midnight show of I am Legand and this was one of the trailers. Got to admit, it looks great.

That Heath Ledger is going to be the best Joker to ever grace the screen! I know the trailer is blurry but he looks/sounds the part. This is the bad-ass Joker I've always wanted to see (not pantomime like Nicholson).
