Just because a movie is a comedy doesn't mean you need to "leave your brain at the door." Movies that just insult your intelligence shouldn't be tolerated. Yes, The Love Guru was expected to be a no-brainer stupid comedy, but you shouldn't say all comedies are like that. |

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were not that good of movies. I don't see the fuss? But I do love everything Apatow has done. Freak and Geeks is the greatest show ever made, Undeclared is up there with it. |

You don't have to leave your brain at the door in comedies. Just look at most of the Apatow movies. Shaun of the Dead. Hot Fuzz. Just to name some recent ones. Great comedies. AND smart. Leave your brain at the door? It's that kind of attitude that lets these people keep feeding us crappy movies. |

I didn't think it was that bad either. Was it a great movie? No, but I expected that. I left my brain at the door, which is what you do with comedies, and I had a fun time with the movie. Even my friends enjoyed it, and they all wanted to hate it.
Sure, some of the jokes were misses, but that is expected with these types of movies. You could do far worse than The Love Guru. |

In my opinion, the problem with the Love Guru is the fact that it is just a rehash of Austin Powers. Myers needs to come up with some original stuff.

I enjoyed the Love Guru. It wasn't as good as Step Brothers, but it had a lot of funny parts. I don't know where all the hate comes from. |

I've heard people say that Love Guru is horrible. Now I'd say that level of criticism is a bit harsh. Actually extremely harsh. You see, I lost a bet once and had to sit through Larry the Cable Guy's Recent Movie called Witless Protection. Now this movie was truly horrible. PAINFULLY UNFUNNY. Light years away from Myers' recent effort.
So cut The Love Guru some slack, because quite simply, it wasn't that bad, and has some good moments. Myers is still a damn fine comedic actor and writer. |
