MacGruber movie Jul. 7, 2009

MacGruber If you thought the era of horrible SNL character based films was over, think again, because MacGruber is about to join the not-so-great pantheon. The MacGuyver parody starring Will Forte as the all-purpose dingbat will, according to "Production Weekly", be getting the feature treatment directed by the character's creator, Jorma Taccone, with production expected to begin next month in New Mexico. Forte had mentioned on a recent talk show that they've been working on a script with the intention of making it a feature and, unfortunately, it seems he wasn't just being wishfully optimistic. Clearly, they didn't learn a thing from NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY, SUPERSTAR, or LADIES MAN. This one promises to be just as ridiculous and silly as the best of them.

Extra Tidbit: MacGruber first aired in 2007.

Don't tell me that JoBlo hates the new SNL? Ever since Seth Meyers took over the show has been 10 times as funny as the grossly overrated Tina Fey years.

I love the current SNL, it's the funniest it's been in a decade. Meyers has written some downright hilarious sketches, much better than the Tina Fey "Debbie Downer" type of crap that was airing during her tenure.

This movie probably won't be made, and I hope it isn't MacGruber is mildly funny, but not movie material.

Not a fan of this skit, but if Jorma's involved, i'll watch.

I quite enjoyed Night at the Roxbury and Ladies Man. They weren't fantastic but they were pretty amusing. I have a feeling MacGruber will turn out to be very similar to something like Hot Shots! or Spy Hard.
