Maggie Grace and Guy Pearce get launched into space by Luc Besson

After being kidnapped (and running like a total dork) in TAKEN, former “Lost” castaway Maggie Grace is getting back with writer-producer Luc Besson for a new sci-fi/action project called LOCKOUT.

The movie will feature Guy Pearce as “a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter (Grace) from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates,” according to Deadline.

Almost sounds like it could be another Snake Plissken movie (Carpenter and Kurt Russell had once supposedly kicked around ESCAPE FROM EARTH).

The movie has apparently been retitled from the originally announced SECTION 8, which was described as taking place in “a prison orbiting 50 miles above the earth. The prison houses 500 of the world’s most dangerous prisoners, who are kept asleep by sophisticated techniques until they suddenly awaken.” It was also initially planned as a 3D movie.

Irish duo Stephen St. Leger and James Mather (aka Saint and Mather) are directing, and co-wrote the script with Besson.
