HMMM. . .
The problem I have with Night is that most of his movies have a badass build up, but doesn't deliver in the end (this comment doesn't include The Sixth Sense and I haven't watched Signs or The Happening). I was pretty disappointed with Unbreakable, but if there was a sequal, I could probably handle it better. |

It's definitely one film I felt like was unique on its own, but could've benefited from a continuation story. Problem is, in the wake of all the super hero fluff out there, I can't think how he'd be able to make it so different. What worked about that movie was it approached the super-hero thing like real life, not to mention it came out all those years ago.
If Shyamalan can pull it off, more power to him, lord knows he's been spending too much time on stuff nobody liked. (Maybe I need to go watch everything he's made since "Signs", cuz that one turned me off enough I never bothered) |

There was an ending to Unbreakable? Really? I thought it meandered through a wallow of poor acting, terrible dialog and heavy handed directing, culminating in 90 of the most painful minutes of my life. Ending? But I do agree on the babies thing. Hey, maybe that's why my ex miscarried? |

Pleaaaaseeee noooo.
I know it was planned as a trilogy.
But this was one of the best movies, because it ended THAT way.
Any follow up will ruing everything. :( |

It might not have needed a sequel, but a trilogy was the plan from the beginning.
JesseNick, I agree Shamylan gets a disproportionate amount of hate, however he has brought some of it upon himself. Part of the problem is that his films aren't tailored for the mainstream summer-blockbuster crowd and yet that's what the studio continually tries to promote them as. The other problem is that Shamylan's become pretty self-indulgant. Lady in the Water was a vanity project and it showed. Although I think The Village and especially The Happening were both advertised as something completely different than they actually were and that made a lot of people mad. As a result I think they both would have been a lot better received if they had been made by a different director. |

Unbreakable is Shaymalan's best movie, by far. And for those who say it doesn't need a sequel, he envisioned it as a trilogy. I'm really excited for this even though his past few movies have been shit. He needs something like this to redeem himself. |

Unbreakable is my favorite superhero movie. By far. I'd love it if he made a sequel, and for the right reasons (a real theme, with a real-feeling character driven story.) He really does get too much hate. The Village is awkward in the middle, and The Happening loses steam and gets awkward in the last half hour. The rest of his movies do exactly what they're set out to do and does them well, if not better. I think the problem is that he makes movies that, on the surface appeal to the JoBlo action/sci-fi/fantasy-seeking audience, but really appeal to the pretentious arty character-driven drama-seeking crowd. For those of us who are both (such as me), he's one of the best directors working today. More please. |

NOT HAPPENING
I watched 45 mins of the Happening and yanked it out of my player. Thats coming from a guy who really enjoyed all of Manny's work. Everything felt unbelievably rushed and otherwise good actors were at there worst. It felt almost like some evil Fox producer was pulling the strings. Is Manny still on Airbender...I think thats the best thing for his career, do something without the Shyamallaaaaman stamp on it. |

M. Night's getting desperate. You know you've hit rock bottom when you are start thinking about a sequel to a movie that didn't need a sequel (IMO) in the first place. |

I would love to see another Unbreakable but something completely different from the first one. The twist ending has been revealed so if M. Night wants to stay the master of thrill, he needs to come up with something else people can claim "they saw coming".
If ANYONE says they knew the ending to The Sixth Sense before they watched it, I SLAP THEM b/c they're stupid and liars. |
