McAvoy for Bond

Don't freak yet. He's not replacing Daniel Craig or anything.

Actually James McAvoy is attached to play Bond's creator, Ian Fleming. Palmstar Entertainment and Animus Films are developing a biopic about the man behind 007. The story would focus on the years that gave him inspiration for Bond. The project is being based on the book, Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond, by Andrew Lycett, according to Pajiba's very reliable source.

Before his creation, Fleming stood in the shadow of his family's name. His Father was a politician, and his siblings were well known (His Brother was a travel writer). Fleming was a likable guy, but was a bit of a disobedient playboy. His brainchild stemmed from experiences in World War II then his life was changed forever.

I think the role would be very fitting. McAvoy is a fine actor. There's been rumblings that one day Mr. Tumnus will take over the role as the actual Bond. I really think that McAvoy showed us all how badass he could be with WANTED, but I don't see him as a Bond. For now, Fleming will be as close as he gets.

Extra Tidbit: For my own curiosity, how many people prefer Roger Moore as Bond over Connery?

Connery was a much better Bond than Moore, who in my opinion was just too goofy, and yes he was suave but was never convincingly tough/badass at the same time, like Connery was.

omg, how many times will Connery Vs Moore be debated??

Connery set the standard, period. while all who came after leaned more to the other bond qualities whether it be action-wise, charismar, style, etc.

I grew up watching Roger Moore and I think he handled himself very well.

Mcavoy is a good actor and some-what under-rated and I think he can pull it...

Connery of course, I mean it's Sean Connery. And this news excites me, I'm a huge fan of McAvoy.. this should be good.

McAvoy should play James Bond, Jr. Every other cartoon has been made into a live action movie.

I saw Spymaker with Jason Connery
and it was a bit shit. McAvoy is too short to ever play Bond as well.

Re Your Extra Tidbit
Roger Moore just spent his time as Bond mugging for the camera. At least the Sean Connery Bond movies had some grit to them.
Face it, in a real brawl between Connery and Moore (at any point in their careers), the original Bond would wipe the floor with Roger.

Has anyone seen Spymaker: The Secret Life of Ian Fleming? It was made in 1990 and starring none other than Jason Connery as Ian Fleming. Apparently it was pretty decent and this seems like another attempt at the same thing.
