 It's just a few months before we can decide if Frank Miller's fruit-flavored solo feature directing debut THE SPIRIT is hypnotic or tragic, but it sounds like he's already preparing to take a trip back to the place where you can find anything in the right alley.
The curmudgeonly comic book veteran was recently in Rome to show some SPIRIT clips (which apparently including Eva Mendes' naked butt, so he probably wasn't at the Vatican) and mentioned that he was "very close" to beginning SIN CITY 2 with cohort Robert Rodriguez. He also grumbled (I presume) that he had no plans to return to comics, opting instead to take his work right to the big screen in the future.
Miller also discussed (from what I can tell) his favorite directors, his general distaste for Hollywood, and this gem of a statement as translated from Italian by the barely comprehensible Babelfish: "It was before the time that Samuel Jackson interpreted a superbad one. I must say it to you, is like an atomic bomb, every day I had to say to calm itself. At the end, with all its enormous guns, seemed a Robot of Transformer."

Much like how hellboy translated to the screen at first with a decent following and good word of mouth...i def think the spirit can do well considering it's budget and visual flare, along with a unique story.
i have been waiting for this one.
P.S i just shot a wedding video, and Sam Jackson was even in that- he's in so many damn movies.
At the end of sam jackon's career, he'll be up there with christopher lee, and john wayne as appearing in the most movies ever. |

actually, he only really hated Hollywood because he wasnt allowed to direct at first, but now he has all the power in his movies, and believes no one will be changing and deforming his scripts from now on, so now he LOVES Hollywood. |

Ummmm pretty sure that he is working on a new Sin City story (which is supposed to be in the new movie too) and he is also making a new Batman comic. So I guess he means after that? Also weird considering he vocally hates Hollywood so why stick to movies? |

i find it funny that he want to do only movies from now on, you know it is just for the money. for years now, his actual writing skills have gone to shit, so he now relies on comics that just look and sound cool. he has become the Micheal Bay of Comics in a way. (i know that there are plenty of comics that are pure style over substance, but he is the most recognizable) i mean, how far do you think he can go in the movie business, when people are already saying his first Solo directing debut movie looks kinda bad. lately people have been bashing his comics(with good reason) and people have started to bash his films before they even come out. so why not have your products bashed while making an GOOD amount of money. |
