Danielle Panabaker (MR. BROOKS) has signed on to star as the female lead in Michael Bay's upcoming FRIDAY THE 13TH remake. Previously Amanda Righetti was set to play the female lead. How could two girls be cast as the female lead you ask? Good question. Could there be two female leads? Possibly but the role has been referred to repeatedly as THE female lead not A female lead. Has Panabaker signed on to replace Righetti? Also a possibility as the latest casting announcement feature not a single mention of Righetti's name. Panabaker's character is described as the "adventurous girlfriend" of the lunkhead who gathers the group together at Crystal Lake. In addition to Panabaker, Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo have all signed onto the film. My favorite character so far has to be Sadowski's who is a "techie" who knows the whole history of Camp Crystal Lake. Maybe the ending will be like INDEPENDENCE DAY and they'll finally kill Jason by hacking into his brain and uploading a virus. Marcus Nispel is directing FRIDAY for Bay and New Line.
