We've known for a while that Simon Pegg would reunite on-screen with lifechum Nick Frost (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, SPACED, HOT FUZZ) for a comedy called PAUL, which was simply described as a geek-centric road trip movie.
Now it sounds a bit more ambitious than that. A few more details, courtesy of Variety: "Story revolves around two British slackers who after visiting Comic-Con go on a road trip to Area 51 where they encounter a small alien named Paul, who enlists them to help him find his way home."
Pegg and Frost collaborated on the script, but FUZZ/SHAUN director Edgar Wright is sitting this one out -- he should be neck-deep in SCOTT PILGRIM when PAUL shoots next spring. Instead, SUPERBAD director Greg Mottola will wrangle the brilliant Brits this time.
Extra Tidbit:
"FRIENDS" star David Schwimmer, who directed Pegg in RUN FATBOY RUN, was initially going to do the same for PAUL.
