7 actresses reportedly up for female lead in True Detective season 2

Although Rachel McAdams and Elisabeth Moss aren't out of the running yet, The Wrap has learned seven actresses will audition for HBO and creator Nic Pizzolatto this week for the female lead in the second season of HBO's True Detective.

According to the site, Rosario Dawson, Jessica Biel, Jaimie Alexander (THOR), Malin Akerman (WATCHMEN), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), Kelly Reilly (FLIGHT) and Brit Marling (ANOTHER EARTH) are all being considered to play Ani Bezzerides, "a tough, no-nonsense Monterey sheriff whose troubled upbringing has driven her to gambling and alcohol." The Wrap says there are also other actresses who might be up for the role.

There's a good chance Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch will star in the second season of the HBO series, and production is scheduled to begin sometime this month. With filming set to start soon, there will likely be an official announcement about the cast for the new season in the very near future.

Which lovely lady would you like to see join the series, or do you think a different actress would be a better fit for the role?
