Count Keanu Reeves out of the Point Break remake

In case you forgot, Kathryn Bigelow‘s POINT BREAK is still being remade by Ericson Core director of INVINCIBLE.

Yeah, I know. Several of you were not pleased, and mentioned that the FAST & FURIOUS franchise was basically already a saturated remake of POINT BREAK. “Back off Warchild, seriously.” One of the films stars from the 1991 action flick would rather not be involved in the upcoming remake of the film.

When Keanu Reeves was asked by BBC 5 Live if he’d like to be involved in the remake his response was, “Absolutely not. It’s not my place.” Reeves seemed curious about the outcome of redoing a film like this and added, “If they can find a way to do it that works out good, then God bless them. Sounds very exciting – but is it a good thing? I don’t know.” The actor played the role of Johnny Utah, an FBI agent that goes undercover to infiltrate a group of robbers-surfers.

Reeves said that some films like THE WIZARD OF OZ and APOCALYPSE NOW should have a “no remake clause”.

It’s been said that POINT BREAK will not be a literal remake. It will have several elements of the original but include other extreme sports though surfing is still important in the story. Kurt Wimmer (SALT) is the scribe on the project.

Of course, BBC 5 wondered about the long gestating third chapter to BILL & TED. Reeves is still giving the same answer: “It’s still in the dream. There’s a script and we’re trying to make it. So we’ll see.” What do they need to get this made? I’d like to see it in my lifetime.
