First clip from Iron Man 3 has Tony Stark giving a holiday greeting to The Mandarin

It’s kind of fitting that our first clip from IRON MAN 3 would be Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark talking to the press. His interactions with the media are a staple to the character and consistent throughout the first two films. In many ways, Stark communicates everything about himself and IRON MAN via cameras and microphones, especially since he doesn’t hide his identity, which is a fairly rare thing in the comc book world.

In the clip, Stark addresses The Mandarin (played by Ben Kingsley) directly, essentially challenging him to a throw down. It’s hard to know the exact context, but based on the trailers it would appear that The Mandarin has unleashed a series of terrorist attacks (as we’ve seen Tony surveying damaged locations), which has set Tony on a path to revenge.

Have a look:

Of course, that threat doesn’t seem to work out in Stark’s favor given what we already know about what transpires as a result. Maybe not the best idea to dare a terrorist to attack your Malibu home. I think we’re all just ready for this movie to drop at this point and have been teased enough. Thankfully, however, the teases have only served to build momentum rather than steal it away.

IRON MAN 3, starring Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, William Sadler, and James Badge Dale starts the sweet armored revenge on May 3, 2013 (less than a month, folks!).
