First stills and poster from Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut Man of Tai Chi

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

We haven’t heard or seen much from MAN OF TAI CHI since it started production back in June. The martial arts film is Keanu Reeves‘ directing debut and I think it’s fair to say that a lot of people are interested in seeing how well he does behind the camera.

The first stills and poster for the film are up on Twitch and you can check them out below. MAN OF TAI CHI follows a young martial artist in Beijing played by Tiger Chen, who was a member of the stunt team for THE MATRIX. On top of directing the film Keanu Reeves will play the villain and MAN OF TAI CHI also stars Karen Mok (GO LALA GO!, Simon Yam (IP MAN) and Iko Uwais (THE RAID). Renowned choreographer Yuen Woo-ping is the action director for the film and that alone should interest many of you due to his work on CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON and THE MATRIX.

MAN OF TAI CHI is said to have 18 fights and about 40 minutes of fighting time so we could be in for a pretty epic Kung Fu movie. Keanu Reeves isn’t the first actor that has been bitten by the directing bug and although he is the butt-end of a lot of jokes I wouldn’t be surprised if he Ben Afflecked all our asses with this film. I’m not saying MAN OF TAI CHI will be the next ARGO or THE TOWN but Reeves seems like he has a lot of passion for this project and I would love to see him hit one out of the park.

Now can we see something from RONIN 47 already? Seriously.

MAN OF TAI CHI currently doesn’t have a release date but might be out sometime this year.
