First official image from Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, featuring Jim Carrey and Aaron Taylor-Johnson

KICK-ASS 2: BALLS TO THE WALL wrapped a few months ago and we haven’t heard or seen much since.  Probably the biggest gem of news came in the form of seeing Jim Carrey on set as Colonel Stars and Stripes, which will likely be a darker departure for the funnyman actor, but still with a bit of comedic edge.  Carrey looks perfect as the leader of Justice Forever, a make-shift hero group (think a street-level Justice League, minus the powers) that recruits the titular Kick Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) into their ranks.  Now, we have an official image from the film, taken directly from the set pics we reported on last year, which has the first meeting between Colonel Stars and Stripes and Kick Ass.

Have a look:

I had a blast with the first KICK ASS and as a fan of the comics I’m looking forward to seeing them bring the next chapter to the big screen.  If it’s anything like the comic, it will be ten times more violent and shocking and with a host of new characters to contend with.  The Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel also sees the return of Hit Girl, once again played by Chloe Moretz, arguably the most popular character in the series (certainly the most bad ass).  The film also stars returning castmembers Lyndsy Fonseca, Clark Duke, Morris Chestnut, and Yancy Butler, along with newcomers John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, and Lindy Booth.

KICK ASS 2: BALLS TO THE WALL opens on June 28, 2013.
