Gal Gadot will be the first big screen Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Well after a lot of back and forth the rumor of Wonder Woman being in the MAN OF STEEL sequel, BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is no longer a rumor as Gal Gadot has taken the role, which will be the first live-action big screen incarnation of the character. It was originally reported that both Gadot and Elodie Yung were vying for the role, but Gadot edged out the role in the end. Zack Snyder weighed in on the casting, saying:

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Gadot is perhaps best known for her role in the FAST & FURIOUS franchise, where she met her demise in the sixth film, freeing up her schedule to don some star-spangled undies and golden bracelets for the next entry in DC’s superhero universe, which is, at this point, most certainly building to a JUSTICE LEAGUE film. Gadot joins the already cast Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman in the Zack Snyder directed sequel.

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is set for release on July 17, 2015.
