Kevin Smith says rumored DC release line-up is the real deal

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Just recently, Nikki Finke dropped a whopper of a list going over DC’s film slate for the next four years. For those who haven’t checked it out (or just want to refresh), it goes as follows:

May 2016 – BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

July 2016 – SHAZAM

Xmas 2016 – SANDMAN

May 2017 – JUSTICE LEAGUE

July 2017 – WONDER WOMAN

Xmas 2017 – FLASH/GREEN LANTERN Team Up

May 2018 – MAN OF STEEL 2

A fair list, although absent is a new Batman film (I’d be down for Affleck directing, just sayin’). Now, Kevin Smith has been very vocal since his main man Ben Affleck was cast as the Dark Knight, and it seems that he’s seen a list of DC’s upcoming slate too. On Kevin Smith‘s Hollywood Babble On podcast featuring Ralph Garman, Ralph brings up the list on which Kevin had a few things to add (in only ways he could). You can listen to the whole podcast here, but I’ve included some highlights below

In regards to the list that was released via Nikki Finke:

Yeah, that’s what I heard. That’s what I was told.

In regards to how he knows:

‘Cause I know people mother f*cker.

How he feels about this list:

That just gave me a reason to live, man. Like, who’s that chick who don’t wanna live? Lana del Ray? Show her this f*ckin’ list. This is a list that would make f*ckin’ grumpy cat smile, dude. Everything about this list is perfect.

Well, from the sounds of things, the list is lookin’ pretty legit. I felt that DC was going to get more aggressive, but I had no idea this was the extent. I can’t imagine an official announcement is too far off, given that most sites have plugged the list. Perhaps they’re just waiting to get official director/cast announcements ready to go along with the films, so they have a little more weight? Time will tell.

The first on the slate, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
