A release date has been set for Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE, and as most of us expected, it will be in theaters on July 8, 2016.
According to Screen Daily, the plan is for production to start this fall at Pinewood Studios, and filming will begin in May of next year. Scott Derrickson (DELIVER US FROM EVIL, SINISTER) will direct the Marvel flick from a script by PROMETHEUS and THE DARKEST HOUR screenwriter Jon Spaihts.
I guess all we have to do now is wait for Marvel to officially announce who will be playing Doctor Strange. Last we knew, Joaquin Phoenix was in final negotiations to play the Sorcerer Supreme, however it’s not clear if he’s actually going to join the film. But since DOCTOR STRANGE now has a release and filming start date, there will likely be casting news for the Marvel movie in the very near future.
