Paul Rudd and James Marsden don’t have much to say about Ant-Man or X-Men: Apocalypse

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Sometimes a person can tell you plenty by not saying anything, but unfortunately that isn't the case this morning with Paul Rudd and James Marsden. Absolute Radio spoke with Paul Rudd at the red carpet premiere for ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES, and they asked him about the casting rumors for ANT-MAN. Rudd's response?

"Oh, that's all rumor man. There's nothing I know, sorry."

So does that mean Paul Rudd is definitely not in the running for ANT-MAN? In video below, Rudd doesn't seem like he's bullshitting when he says he knows nothing about ANT-MAN, but we all know how less than truthful actors can be about their upcoming (or not officially announced) roles. I think Paul Rudd would make an excellent Ant-Man, and I really hope him possibly playing the character isn't just a rumor.

James Marsden won't be back as Cyclops in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST (unless it's suppose to be a surprise and Bryan Singer has managed to keep his return quiet), but is there a chance he'll appear in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE? When asked if he'll be in the next X-MEN movie by Absolute Radio, Marsden said he doesn't know anything about X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. When informed of the release date, James Marsden said, "it's way too early" (as in, too early to speculate if he'll be in it or not), but Marsden also said he hopes he will be in the next movie and "loves being a part of that world."

So which actor should we believe? I think Paul Rudd is at least being considered for ANT-MAN. That doesn't mean he will play the character or that he even wants the part, but I do believe Marvel is interested in him as Ant-Man. I would love to see James Marsden in another X-MEN movie, however I do agree with the actor's comments on it being way too early.

ANT-MAN will be in theaters July 31st, 2015, and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will be released on May 27th, 2016.
