Ride into action in this new trailer for The Lone Ranger with Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It seems like THE LONE RANGER has got an uphill climb to win audiences over, as it faces off against the ruling comic book genre, animated kid's films, and high-concept comedies of the summer. The western genre has been a tough sell for a while and even though THE LONE RANGER has some deep roots in American culture, it may not be enough for modern audiences. However, I have faith that this can be a hit for as long as Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, and director Gore Verbinski deliver a solid, rousing, and kick-ass flick. The last collaboration between Depp and Verbinksi wasn't projected to be much of a hit either and look how that turned out. Today, we have a new trailer for the film, which shows off some new footage, while building upon what we've already seen.

Take a look:

As a kid, I loved the '80's movie THE LEGEND OF THE LONE RANGER and it firmly embedded the lore of the character in my psyche. It's a fun, almost mystical approach to the western genre and builds on many of the heroic tropes we've come to know in other genres. I have no doubt that Bruckheimer and the team behind this have put forth their best effort and it's my hope that it shows onscreen. I'll be there to find out.

THE LONE RANGER, directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham-Carter, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, James Badge Dale, Barry Pepper, and Ruth Wilson rides off into the sunset on July 3, 2013.
