It’s been a big day for the Star Wars universe; we met the cast of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and now we have some slick new images from the upcoming Disney Channel series STAR WARS REBELS. The animated series takes place some 14 years after the events of REVENGE OF THE SITH and centers on the fledgling rebellion as the Empire hunts down the last of the Jedi Knights to secure rule of the galaxy.
Here’s a synopsis:
“Star Wars Rebels” continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.
So now we have met the show’s main villain, The Inquisitor. We drooled over the LEGO sets and action figures. We even checked out a very short teaser and cool concept art; there’s nothing left but to wait for them to show off the goods.
Disney has now announced that the first trailer will be released on Star Wars Day (May 4th). You bet your ass we will throw it up so check back with us! STAR WARS: REBELS is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, and will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
