This image from The Amazing Spider-man 2 reveals B.J. Novak in character, plus some major potential spoilers

And yet another castmember is revealed for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, but this time it is someone we didn’t even know was in the movie! INGLOURIOUS BASTERD and alum of THE OFFICE cast, B.J. Novak, was revealed via a tweet from director Marc Webb. The above image shows Novak looking like a dapper hipster, but who the hell is he? Again, in pure speculation mode here, but Novak could be playing anyone from a love interest for Gwen Stacy to an Oscorp employee. This image could be nothing more than a glorified cameo, but we won’t know until more details about the movie are revealed. I like Novak on THE OFFICE but his age puts him a little out of the high school setting from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN universe.

When it comes to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, all we have at this point is speculation and mystery. I am a fan of Webb tweeting out these little hints from the movie, but we still have no idea what to expect from Jamie Foxx as Electro, Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn, or Paul Giamatti as Rhino. The only thing we can know with certainty is that as long as they follow the path of the comics, Emma Stone‘s time in this franchise will be finite. With Shailene Woodley joining as Mary Jane, rumors have abounded that Emma Stone will exit the franchise after this movie, but Comic Book Movie may have some big spoilers about that. So, read the following after this image of Electro at your own risk.

Sources claim that the locker number rumored to hold the Venom costume is actually where Max Dillon is taken after an accident at Oscorp which transforms him into Electro. They claim he will wear a costume more in line with the Ultimate version of the villain, which means no green and yellow spandex. Their source also claims Green Goblin will be absent from this movie as well. But, the big spoiler is this:

Just as most of us suspected, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) will indeed check out in this film, but perhaps more surprising is that it’s been hinted – note we don’t know this for certain – that this won’t even happen at the end, and Stone’s role may not be very large at all. Like I said, that’s speculation based on how the info was put across, but I personally wouldn’t be surprised in Gwen buys it around the beginning of the third act, giving Spidey a reason to go off the deep end and seek revenge.

So, there you have it. If this rumor is true, Emma Stone will be gone after two outings with Peter Parker. I am a bit surprised that they would kill her off, especially before the end of the movie, but it could be one of the most powerful moments in a comic book movie if handled the right way, which is to say not like how Bryce Dallas Howard’s version was in Sam Raimi‘s SPIDER-MAN 3. Either way, I am excited to see if THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 outdoes the first film. While not perfect, it definitely had potential to kickstart a new series.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 opens on May 2nd, 2014.
