Watch Ang Lee introduce a Life of Pi clip and a trailer introduce Russell Crowe in The Man With the Iron Fists

From the looks of this first full clip alone, Ang Lee has accomplished several things with LIFE OF PI: he has 1) crafted a beautiful world for these characters to inhabit, 2) made use of new, engaging, and unexpected/interesting camera angles and techniques, and 3) sought to make “Man vs. Wild” look like a children’s Sunday afternoon TV show.

I was always a bit disappointed by the technical crafting of Ang Lee’s recent output, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN especially, so it’s nice for me to see him return to part of what helped him make such a big splah with films such as CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.  You can catch LIFE OF PI (and all the 3D flying fish you want) on November 21st.

We’ve written a great deal about THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS, so I’ll just leave it at this: Russell Crowe’s character of Jack Knife 1) has a brilliantly simple name and 2) looks to be a downright snarky and vicious villain.  Crowe was perfect for the part, and I’m all the more excited now to see what he does with it and the full way in which his character fits into the movie.  THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS hits hard on November 2nd.
