Zachary Quinto says Star Trek 3 to start filming in next six months

Now that the script is done for STAR TREK 3, when might shooting start for the Roberto Orci movie? According to Zachary Quinto, filming for the STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS sequel will likely begin by spring of next year.

Recently while being interviewed on NBC's Today show, the actor said “I think it’s on the horizon," and goes on to say “things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be back in production sometime in the next six months.”

Not much is known about Roberto Orci's plans for the movie, however it'll probably be set in deep space, after the crew has started their first five-year mission. Orci will direct the film from the script he wrote with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay.

Paramount wants STAR TREK 3 to open in 2016, and it sounds like they're on track to hit that release date. The main cast will be back for the next STAR TREK flick, however there's been no news about other actors joining the project. But with things looking good for STAR TREK 3, I wouldn't be surprised if casting news/rumors start heating up for the planned film.
