The Latest Announcements

Ronin (SE) - May 9

Other than a pretty cool car chase down some narrow roads, cool cars, shoot outs and Jean Reno having that look on his face like he has no clue where he is, Ronin was pretty lame. Actually, now that I'm remembering it, I guess it wasn't all that bad. Sue me.

Includes:

  • Audio Commentary with director John Frankenheimer
  • In The Cutting Room with Tony Gibbs - Featurette
  • Ronin: Filming in the Fast Lane - Featurette
  • Through the Lens with Director of Photography Robert Fraisse - Featurette
  • 'Venice Interviews'
  • Composing the Ronin Score - Featurette
  • Alternate Ending
  • 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen
  • English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks English with French and Spanish subtitles

Deadwood (S2) - May 23

Those motherwhoring, corksucking cowboys are back with the second season, filling in the nine-year gap between Sopranos' seasons. While other TV show's seasons on DVD run between $24.99 and $34.99, HBO is pulling out all the stops with a retail price listed at $98.99. Holy corksucking cowboys, Batman! Features for the second season of Deadwood (my ex also gave me that moniker, the bitch) include audio commentaries, documentaries, episodic recaps and previews, along with a featurette and will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Deadwood, might as well be called Whiskey Dick.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre/The Godfather Collection

"Does my ass look big in this? I knew it!"

DavisDVD is reporting on a two-disc set for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre possibly in September. The first disc would feature the orignal 1974 classick with a new high-definition transfer of the 16mm camera negative, Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 stereo mixes along with the original mono track. Among the special features are a new commentary track with the original cast, a second with Tobe Hooper, Director of Photography Daniel Pearl and Gunnar Hansen and deleted & alternate scenes. The second disc is David Gregory's 2000 documentary Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Shocking Truth which features interviews with the directors of all four films in the series. Paramount is re-releasing The Godfather Collection to coincide with the release of the video game of the same name on March 21st. The collection will now include an exclusive bonus DVD with a twelve minute extended gameplay trailer, a look at the opening of the game and features, two making of featurettes with the game developers and the original game trailer. So all the new stuff is game related. Werd.

"'ey, you girls up for some roller skatin'?"

Puff, Puff, Pass - May 9

And now for one of the worst looking movies ever made. And that's saying a lot. I love pot humor just as much as the next guy, but what jokes can you really make about weed that haven't been made before? Let me guess, dudes get high, munch out, shit happens, hilarity ensues but in this case, I bet it doesn't. Saying that, I love the cover. Subtlety is key.
