Hanks/Spielberg reteam

02.07.2003

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg will team for a third time on the drama TERMINAL for DreamWorks. While this is kinda exciting news, the real kicker is news that filming won't begin until late 2003 leaving practically an entire year open for Spielberg to direct another project. That project? INDIANA JONES 4. It's not quite set in stone yet but there's a definite possibility that Spielberg will begin filming on INDY 4 this summer and segue right into TERMINAL. That move would have INDY 4 ready for a summer 2004 release and would leave Hanks enough time to film both THE POLAR EXPRESS and THE LADYKILLERS for the Coen Bros.

TERMINAL would star Hanks as a Balkan immigrant stranded in a New York airport after a war in his homeland renders his passport invalid. The project was co-written by Spielberg's CATCH ME IF YOU CAN screenwriter Jeff Nathanson along with Sacha Gervasi (SIMONE). TERMINAL originally attracted the interest of director Andrew Niccol (GATTACA, SIMONE) but he left to pursue other projects. But enough about this TERMINAL movie. INDY 4!! Shooting this summer!! Da-da-dum-dum...Da-da-dum!
